2026 AAAS Annual Meeting

February 11-14, 2026; In-person in Phoenix, AZ

Synopsis

The theme of the 2026 AAAS Annual Meeting – Science @ Scale – inspires us to draw attention on daring to explore the inconceivable and embrace informed risk, while also conceptualizing value for the public good. Our communities of scientists, policy makers, the public/private sectors, and the public are equal partners in the integrative scaling of new knowledge, large-scale data, complex systems, and policy innovation for impact.

DoSER staff lead a workshop on science engagement with faith communities

Workshop: Fostering Religiously-Inclusive Engagement with Science

Friday, 2/13, 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Phoenix Convention Center, West 101-C

Faith is often perceived as a source of tension in STEM, even though 7 in 10 US adults claim a religious affiliation. This workshop will help participants engage with people of faith respectfully and effectively. We will discuss trust in science; promising practices; and why culture, worldview & identity (including faith) are important in science communication & engagement. We’ll hear from an expert who studies culturally competent evolution education, consider other examples, and synthesize the material in small-group discussions about real-world scenarios.
